본 연구는 생태학적 다문화 도시공간을 위한 도시인문학의 근본개념 탐구를 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 근본적으로 인간을 둘러싸고 있는 하늘과 땅과 바다와 공기, 그리고 대자연과의 생태학적인 관계를 재설정하고, 더 나아가 인간 간의 차별을 드러내는 경계를 지양(止揚)하고, 소통의 풍토를 촉진하는 개념의 정립이 요구된다. 논의의 순서는 다음과 같다. 먼저 인문학적 접근을 기초로 한 기존의 도시학 연구 성과들을 분석적이고 평가적으로 고찰하여, 도시인문학의 성격과 과제를 종합적으로 규정해 보았다. 다음으로 생태학적 다문화 도시공간의 가능조건으로서 도시인문학의 근본개념, 다시 말해서 시간과 공간의 의미, 자연과 인간의 관계, 인권으로서의 주거권과 다문화 공동체를 위한 조건 등에 대해 탐구했다. 인간다운 도시공간은 궁극적으로 생태학적으로 건강하고, 사회적으로 정의로우며, 역사와 삶의 기록이 현대적 건축과 공존하고, 다인종·다종교·다문화가 조화를 이루는 도시공간을 지향한다. 도시인문학에 기초한 이들 개념은 생태학적으로 건강하며 다문화가 공존하는 문화도시를 지향하는 인천의 도시계획 및 도시재개발 과정의 건전성을 담보하거나 평가하는 데 일정한 의미를 지닐 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
This study aims to delve into basic concepts of urban humanities for ecological & multicultural urban space. With a view to carrying out this aim, this study sought to the ecological relationship between human being & nature including sky, earth, sea, air and so on. Furthermore it calls for the creation of concepts which can pull down visible or invisible barriers between human beings and facilitate communicative atmosphere. In order to accomplish this purpose, I examined critically the various articles about humanities-based urbanism, and then defined synthetically the characteristics & tasks of urban humanities. Upon this urban humanities, I formed basic concepts for ecological & multicultural urban space : meaning of time and space, interrelationship between nature and human being, housing rights as human rights and conditions for multicultural community etc. Humane urban seeks after urban space which is healthy in the context of ecology & social justice, filled with history & life story as well as modern buildings, and multiracial/multireligious/multicultural. These concepts based on urban humanities make a meaningful contribution to ensuring or evaluating the healthiness of urban planing
