내부고발 의도의 설명과 예측: 계획된 행동이론을 중심으로

이 연구에서는 내부고발 의도의 설명과 예측에 Ajzen(1991)의 계획된 행동이론(theory of planned behavior)을 적용, 이 이론의 인간행위 의도 예측에 대한 세 변수, 즉 태도, 주관적 규범, 그리고 행동제약에 대한 인식이 내부고발 의도의 구성에 각기 어떤 기여를 하는가를 분석하였다. 내부고발을 내부형과 외부형으로 구체화한 후 계획된 행동이론이 시사하는 각 요인들의 영향에 대한 두 가설을 설정했다. 다음 종속 및 독립변수 측정 척도를 개발, 경찰관을 대상으로 총 400매의 질문지를 배부, 296명으로부터 응답을 받아 검증을 시도했다. 분석결과, 내부형은 태도, 태도와 행동제약에 대한 인식간의 상호작용이, 외부형에서는 태도와 주관적 규범이 각각 유의한 영향 변수라는 것이 발견되었다. 태도의 설명력은 내부형에서 가장 뚜렷했으나 외부형에서는 급격히 저하되었고, 오히려 주관적 규범이 태도를 대신해 가장 높은 설명력을 보였다. 전반적으로 아젠이론의 설명과 예측 능력은 외부형보다는 내부형에서 높았다. 이것은 계획된 행동이론이 내부고발 의도 설명에 유효한 이론적 도구이나 그 유형에 따라 설명과 예측 능력은 다르고, 특히 이탈, 예외적 외부형보다는 보다 안정적 내부형 의도 설명, 예측에 효과적임을 시사한다. 이 연구는 보복이나 특정 상황 변수 중심의 기존 연구들과 달리 일반 이론적 접근이고, 또 새로운 계획된 행동이론의 적용 가능성, 효과성 검증이라는 의미가 있다.
