Abstract

Stone Mound Tombs can be said to be a representative burial system of Northeast Asian stone tomb culture distributed to Japan through Liaodong, Manchuria and the Korean Peninsula starting with Hongsan. Therefore, research seeking for the origin and propagation process of Stone Mound Tombs could be seen to be one indicator in terms of exchange of Northeast Asian Culture. In that regard, the contents examined in the body can be summarized as follows. In the current academic world, most researchers strongly tend to find the origin of Stone Mound Tombs in Koguryo Stone Mound Tombs. However, given that the form of Stone Mound Tombs had appeared long before Koguryo was founded, the problem of this perspective becomes obvious. Only some researchers paid attention to some Stone Mound Tombs before Koguryo. However, even these researchers failed to conduct the comprehensive comparison and analysis with Stone Mound Tombs of Hongsan. In that aspect, we paid attention to Hongsan where the first form of Stone Mound Tombs for now. In the region, even Stone-complied multi buried tombs appeared in addition to typical Stone Mound Tombs. These Stone Mound Tombs are faster than by more than 3000 years than those in Koguryo. Next, southern Liaodong is a place where these Stone Mound Tombs of Hongsan are directly connected. Stone-complied multi buried tombs excavated in this regions also appear in Hongsan. That is, it shows the pattern that Stone-complied multi buried tombs in Hongsan are connected to southern Liaodong, the immediate vicinity and then, proceed to the Korean Peninsula. But, when reaching Hun He Taizihe Region, some exceptions appear in the propagation process of Stone Mound Tombs. stone mound type of dolmens not shown in Hongsan appear. This form shows an pattern connected to the Korean Peninsula Region. On the other hand, Hwanin and Jian Regions show a feature that Stone Mound Tombs shown in Hongsan appeared again after 3000 years. And this burial system shows a feature distributed even to the Japanese archipelago through the Korean Peninsula again. And in Nakdong River Basin, stone-complied wooden chamber tombs that can be seen only here are distributed. In this respect, Liaodong, Manchuria Region shows an aspect that the forms of Stone Mound Tombs are clearly distinguished by each region. In comparison, the feature of Stone Mound Tombs shown in the Korean Peninsula is the fact that different types of Stone Mound Tombs are distributed in the locally same place. Only with research so far, we could identify the dominant flow of Northeast Asian Stone Mound Tombs spreading from Hongsan to Liaodong, Manchuria and the Korean Peninsula, Japanese archipelago. Only with this, the horizon of Stone Mound Tomb research fixed to Koguryo could be broadened and this is expected to contribute to the flow of Northeast Asian Culture to some extent.
