공공성은 민주적 절차와 결과적 정의의 변증법적 통합을 추구하는 이념이다. 그러한 통합을가능하게 하는 윤리적 토대는 책임윤리이다. 책임윤리는 시대의 성격에 따라 그 내용이 변할 수밖에없다. 그리고 그에 따라 공공성 이념의 실현을 위한 방법도 달라질 수밖에 없다. 인간의 기술이 고도로발전한 사회에서 인간에게 요구되는 책임윤리는 어떤 것인가? 한스 요나스는 이러한 질문에 가장민감하게 반응한 학자로서 미래에 대한 책임윤리를 제안한다. 이 글에서는 요나스의 기술사회에대한 진단과 그에 대응하기 위한 책임윤리의 정체가 무엇인지를 살펴본다. 그리고 요나스의 책임윤리가 공공성 이념에 대해 갖는 의미를 논의하고, 이러한 논의가 정책적으로 어떠한 의미를 갖는지를 제시한다.
Abstract
Publicness is the idea of dialectical integration of democratic procedures and consequential justice. The ethical basis for such integration is responsibility. Responsibility ethics can not but change according to the nature of the times. And the method for realizing the idea of the publicness is bound to change accordingly. What is the responsibility ethics required of human beings in a society where human technology is highly developed? Hans Jonas suggests a responsible ethic of the future as the most sensitive scholar to this question. In this article, I examine what Jonas' technological society is and what is the identity of responsible ethics in response to it. And I discuss the implications of Jonas' responsibility ethics for the idea of publicness, and suggest what kind of policy implications this discussion has.
