Abstract

Manchuria and the northern Korean Peninsula constitute a pivotal region for understanding the formation and transformation of early Korean polities, including Gojoseon, Buyeo, and Goguryeo. Despite its historical significance, research on the ancient tribes and political entities of this region has long been constrained by the asymmetry of textual sources and the fragmented accumulation of archaeological data. As literary records and excavation materials have been archived and analyzed separately, a substantial body of historical evidence has remained underutilized as so-called “dark data.” This study proposes an integrated analytical framework for structuring and linking textual and archaeological datasets through generative artificial intelligence, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs). By combining Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) as a knowledge-controlled analytical architecture with Vibe Coding and a Human-in-the-loop verification system, the framework enables the semantic integration of heterogeneous data while maintaining scholarly oversight. The proposed system facilitates the transformation of unstructured textual records and excavation reports into interconnected, analyzable datasets, thereby providing a foundation for reconstructing ancient tribes and polities within broader relational and diachronic contexts. Ultimately, this research contributes to the methodological advancement of digital archaeology and ancient historical studies by extending AI applications beyond data management toward a knowledge-production stage grounded in controlled interpretation and iterative validation.
