최근 WTO/DDA 협상, FTA 협상 등을 통해 세계 농산물 시장은 급속하게 개방되고 있으며 우리농업의 생존을 위해서는 보다 적극적으로 우리 농산물의 수출 방안을 강구해야 한다는 인식이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 우리나라 과일류 중, 최근 수출이 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 배의 수출 형태를 1997년부터 2011년까지의 44개국으로의 배 수출자료와 중력모형을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 특히 최근에 활발하게 논의되고 있는 이민자(교민)효과를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 전체적으로 중력모형은 우리나라 배의 수출패턴을 잘 설명하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며 본 연구의 중요 변수인 해외 교민 수의 경우 그 값은 선행 연구에서와 같이 양(+)으로 나타나 교민의 수가 우리나라 배 수출을 증대시키는 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 분석의 결과는 정보효과보다는 선호효과가 크게 나타나는 것으로 해석할 수 있어 향후 시민권자 및 영주권자들과의 교류 및 네트워크를 강화하는 정책을 통해 그 효과를 상승시키는 것이 배 수출에 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
Recently, the world agricultural market has been integrated very fast under free trade agreements. Although this dramatic change may cause disastrous effects on Korean agricultural sector, it could also be a huge change to increase Korean agricultural exports. Pears are considered as one of the most important export items because their export is growing very fast in recent years. This paper examines the structure of Korea's pear export using the gravity equation to draw an implication for policy makers and pear exporters. The important finding is the number of Korean immigrants has been played an important role to pear exports of Korea.
