대학상담자들의 자살예방과 자살위기개입 경험 질적 연구

본 연구에서는 자살예방과 자살위기개입과 관련하여 대학상담센터 상담자들이 지각하는 어려운 점과 제안하는 향후 발전 방향에 대해 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 대학상담센터에서 전일 혹은 객원 상담자로 근무하고 있는 상담자(상담심리사 1급 혹은 2급 자격증 소지, 상담 경력 4년 이상) 13명을 대상으로 심층 면접을 실시한 후, 합의적 질적 분석을 적용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 상담자들이 지각하는 어려운 점은 ‘대학 및 상담센터 요인: 관심과 지원 부족’, ‘자살위기 개입 시스템: 부재’, ‘사회적 인식’, ‘상담자 요인’ 등의 4가지 요인과 11개의 범주로 분류되었다. 이 중 일반적 범주로는 (대학의) ‘쉬쉬하거나 반짝 관심’, ‘상담센터의 예산과 전문 인력 부족’이 나타났고, 전형적 범주로는 ‘협력기관 부재’, ‘매뉴얼 부재’, ‘상담에 대한 관심부족과 부정적 태도’, ‘자살에 대한 안이한 태도’, ‘부담감과 불안함’, ‘미흡한 ‘자살’ 교육과 훈련’, ‘자살위기개입으로 인한 소진’이 나타났다. 또한, 상담자들이 제안하는 향후 발전 방향은 ‘대학 및 상담센터 요인: 관심과 지원 확대’, ‘자살위기 개입 시스템: 구축’, ‘사회적 인식’, ‘상담자 요인’ 등의 4가지 요인과 12개의 범주로 분류되었다. 일반적 범주로는 ‘예산 확대와 전문 인력 보강’, 전형적 범주로는 ‘문제인식 개선’, ‘24시간 온콜제’, ‘센터와 지역사회 네트워크 구축’, ‘자살위기개입 매뉴얼 개발,’ ‘자살예방 교육의 의무화,’ ‘상담자를 위한 교육과 훈련’, ‘상담자간의 상호지지’가 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 대학생의 자살예방과 자살위기 개입을 위한 방안과 후속연구들에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to explore the experiences of college counselors regarding suicide prevention and crisis intervention. A total of 13 professional counselors (having professional counselor’s licenses, together with at least four years of counseling experience) were interviewed regarding their perceived difficulties and their suggestions for future directions in practice. Analysis using consensual qualitative research methodologies revealed 4 domains (i.e., ‘university and counseling center factor: a lack of interest and support’, ‘no suicide crisis intervention system’, ‘societal attitudes’, and ‘counselor factors’ and 13 categories for their perceived challenges. In addition, suggestions for future direction included 3 domains (i.e., university and counseling center factor: promotion of interest and support’, ‘development of suicide crisis intervention system’, ‘societal attitudes’, ‘counselor factors’ and 12 categories. The implications of these findings for practice and research were also discussed.
