청소년의 신체상이 자살생각에 미치는 영향 : 스트레스와 우울의 매개효과를 중심으로

초록

연구는 청소년의 신체상이 스트레스와 우울을 매개로 하여 자살생각에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 서울에 소재하는 중․고등학교 각 4개교씩, 총 8개교에 재학 중인 372명의 학생들에게 수집한 자료를 분석했다. 연구 결과에 따르면 청소년의 신체상은 자살생각에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 스트레스를 매개해서도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 청소년의 신체상은 우울을 매개하거나 스트레스와 우울을 동시에 매개해서는 자살생각에 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과 청소년의 자살생각에 직접적인 영향을 미치고, 자살생각에 가장 큰 결정요인으로 작용하는 우울에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타난 신체상의 긍정적인 형성을 위해 가정, 학교와 사회적인 차원에서 이루어 질 수 있는 다각적인 대책을 제언하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of body image of youths upon their suicide ideation with stress and sense of depression as mediating variables. To achieve this purpose, 372 students were sampled. The study found that the body image of youths affected their suicide ideation directly and indirectly through stress. However, the body image of youths did not affect suicide ideation when their sense of depression was included as a mediating variable by itself or with stress. The implications of these results were explored in terms of measures that could be taken in families, schools, communities and societies at large.
