청소년 자살시도 예측변인: 자살위기 청소년을 중심으로

Predictors of attempts at suicide: A focus on the attune adolescent facing a suicidal crisis

본 연구는 자살위기로 진단된 청소년들의 자살시도 유무를 변별하는 변인들을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 정서행동선별검사 결과 학교 상담실에서 자살위기로 관리 받고 있는 부산소재 남여청소년 95명을 대상으로 무망감, 품행장애, 충동성, 알콜/약물남용, 공격성 척도를 실시하였다. 연구대상을 자살시도 집단과 비시도 집단으로 구분하여 두 집단 간 차이를 알아보기 위해 일원변량분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 충동성, 공격성, 알콜/약물남용 변인에서 유의미한 차이가 나타나 자살을 시도하는 청소년들이 자살을 시도하지 않는 청소년들에 비해 더 충동적이거나 공격적이며 알콜이나 약물을 남용하는 경향이 높다는 점을 알 수 있다. 또한 자살시도집단과 비시도집단을 준거변인으로 5개 변인을 예측변인으로 설정하고 판별분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 동시판별분석에서는 예측변인 5개 모두 자살시도 유무를 변별하는 유의한 변인으로 밝혀졌으며 자살시도의 정확분류율은 71.6%였다. 한편 단계적 판별분석 결과 무망감과 공격성 두 변인이 자살시도 집단과 비시도 집단을 유의하게 변별하는 변인으로 밝혀졌다. 단계적 판별분석으로 도출된 함수의 정확분류율이 72.6%이고 실제 자살을 시도한 청소년을 시도 집단으로 분류한 비율이 72.4%에 이르렀다. 연구 결과 무망감과 공격성이 자살생각이 있는 청소년들이 자살시도를 할 것인지를 효율적으로 예측해주는 중요한 변인임을 알 수 있다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 자살위기 청소년들에 대한 이해와 효과적인 개입 등 자살예방을 위한 실제적인 시사점과 후속연구를 위한 제안을 제시하였다.

Abstract

This study was conducted to identify predictors that would differentiate suicidal teens with experience of suicide attempts from those without previous experience of suicide attempts. Assessment Scales on hopelessness, conduct disorder, alcohol‐substance abuse, impulsiveness and aggressiveness were administered to 95 suicidal teens who are currently under the charge of school‐counselors in Pusan middle and high schools. The data were analyzed through discriminant analyses with the 5 factors as predictors and the status (i.e., presence, absence) of experience of suicide attempts as the criterion variable. The results of the discriminant analysis (Stepwise) revealed that only two predictors (i.e., hopelessness and aggressiveness) were significant. The discriminant function with these two predictors yielded the overall correct classification percentage of 72.6%, indicating the degree of sensitivity. The percentage of correctly classified suicidal teens who had actually attempted suicide into a group with experience of suicide attempts was approximately 72.4%. These results imply that hopelessness and aggressiveness operate as significant predictors of suicide attempts in suicidal teens. Thus, these predictors need to be included in the procedures for screening suicidal teens at risk of suicidal behavior.
