Abstract

In Korea, which has established an export-oriented economic system, port container terminals, as key hubs for import and export, play a crucial role in the national economy. Since import and export activities are primarily centered around these terminals, improving their efficiency can have a significant impact not only on the efficiency of specific industries but also on the national economy as a whole. This study focuses on the perspective of inland transportation in relation to the efficiency of port container terminals, specifically examining the import and export transport volumes flowing into the terminals. Specifically, the study aims to explore the variables influencing the fluctuations in these transport volumes and to define the independent variables that contribute to gate congestion. To achieve this, the study first hypothesizes potential variables that may cause congestion based on industrial business processes, and then explores the correlations between the data through analysis, followed by the verification of the results. Based on these findings, the study defines the key independent variables responsible for gate congestion.
