한국사회에 정착한 대표적 이주민인 이주노동자, 결혼이주여성은 예상보다 긴밀하게 떠나온모국과 교류하고 있으며 이것이 오히려 유입국에서 생활하는데 유의미한 방편으로 작동하고있다는 것이 이 연구가 주목하고 있는 지점이다. 이주의 역사가 일상적 경험의 차원에서누적되고 있는 오늘날, 이 글에서는 이주민의 적응 방식의 하나로서 초국가적 실천을 중심으로논의를 전개하였다. 이주민은 영토적으로는 한 국가에 귀속될 수 밖 에 없지만, 경제·사회·심리적으로는 양 국가에 걸쳐 귀속되어 있는 것이 이주현실의 일반에 가깝다. 따라서 이러한 논의는 한국사회에서 만연한 이주민을 바라보는 시선인 적응과 부적응, 통합과비통합과 같은 단일하고 이분법적인 잣대에 대한 문제제기를 하는 것이기도 하다. 이 글에서는이주민의 초국가적 실천의 방식으로 송금과 같은 경제적 차원의 실천, 이주민의 모국 방문, 가족·친족의 초청과 연쇄이주, 한국에서 모국의 자원을 활용하는 방식으로 범주화하여살펴보았다.
Abstract
This study takes a note of the fact that immigrant workers and foreign married and immigrated women that are typical forms of immigration in Korea are more closely communicating and interchanging with their homeland than anticipated, which plays a meaningful role in living in their newly settled country. Today when the history of immigration is turning into everyday life experience, this study has unfolded its debate with focus on transnational strategies as part of adaptation of immigrants. Immigrants have no other choice but to belong to a single country in territorial aspect but are, in reality associated with both counties in terms of economic, social and psychological aspects. Therefore, this debate is also intended to raise issues with dichotomous standards, or views that are prevalent in Korean society, such as adaptation and maladaptation and integration and disintegration. This paper has looked into a predefined scope of conducting transnational strategies among immigrants that includes economic activities such as remittances, immigrants’ visit to their homeland, invited immigration of family and relatives and chain migation and the way of utilizing homeland’s resources in Korea.
