시각 및 지체장애 중등교원의 교직 경험: 고용 확대를 위한 환경적 요소를 중심으로

본 연구는 시각 및 지체 장애 중등교원의 교직 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구를 통해 이들이 겪는 심리사회적인 어려움이 무엇인지를 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 특히 학교에 임용된 이후 교직활동 경험의 본질을 살펴보기 위해 질적 연구 방법 중에서도 현상학적 연구방법을 택하였다. 연구결과 장애교원 5명으로부터 38가지의 주제와 14개의 주제모음을 발견하였으며, 이러한 주제모음은 물리적 교육환경의 경험, 행정적 교육환경의 경험, 교수‧학습 운영 환경의 경험, 그리고 관계에 대한 경험 등 4개의 범주로 나누어졌다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 나타난 장애교원의 교직경험은 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있는데, 먼저 장애교원은 물리적 교육환경에 대해 답답함, 우울함, 자기수용 등의 심리적 변화를 경험하며, 행정업무에 대한 어려움에 부딪히고 있었다. 또 교육에 있어서는 자신감을 가지고 있었지만, 장애로 인한 열등의식도 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 학교 측의 배려에 대해 딜레마를 겪으며, 학교관계자들, 학부모, 학생들과의 소통의 기회에 대해 목말라 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 장애교원의 교직 경험을 사실적으로 규명함과 동시에 효과적인 개입을 위한 방향을 설정하는데 중요한 기초자료를 제공하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to conduct phenomenological research on disabled teachers’ experience in teaching profession and figure out psycho-social difficulties they have. Particularly, to examine the essence of activities in teaching profession after being appointed at a school, this study chose a phenomenological research method among qualitative research methods. According to the result of the research, this study found 38 themes and 14 theme clusters from 5 disabled teachers, and it was found that such theme clusters were divided into 4 categories including experience in physical environment, experience in administrative environment, experience in educational environment, and experience in relationship. The disabled teachers’ experience in teaching profession found in this study can be summed up as below. First of all, disabled teachers experience psychological changes regarding physical environment such as stuffiness, depression, and self-acceptance and face difficulties for administrative tasks. Moreover, although they have pride in education, they also have consciousness of inferiority for disability. Meanwhile, it was also shown that they experience dilemmas for school’s consideration and eagerly want opportunities to communicate with persons concerned at schools, parents, and students. This research result provides crucial foundational data in establishing a direction for effective intervention as well as examining disabled teachers’ experience in teaching profession factually.
