장애인의 실업과 우을 사이의 상호 인과성 분석 - 자기회귀교차지연 효과 검증

초록

본 연구는 장애인의 실업과 우울의 인과관계를 검정하고, 이 결과를 반영한 정책적 함의를 찾는데 목적이 있다. 최근 연구들은 장애인의 실업과 장애인의 우울에 대해 개별적으로 접근해 왔으나, 장애인의 실업과 우울에 대한 명확한 인과관계 규명에 미흡하였다. 단지 일반적 수준에서 장애인들은 취업에 실패하는 실업상태로 인해 우울을 경험한다고설명하는 노출가설과 장애인의 우울이 이들의 취업을 방해하는 원인이라는 선택가설이대립되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구는 한국복지패널 2006년∼2012년 자료를 활용하여 자기회귀교차지연 모형을 적용함으로써 장애인의 실업과 우울간의 인과관계를 검정하였다. 분석결과 장애인의 우울이 이들의 실업에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나장애인의 실업의 원인으로 나타났다. 이에 따른 정책적 시사점은 제언부분에 포함하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is (1) to identify a causal relationship betweenunemployment and depression for individuals with disabilities and (2) toexamine the its political implications of the results of this study. Recent studieshave tended to explore the issues of unemployment and depression forindividuals with disabilities separately, with the result that they have failed toclearly establish causality between unemployment and depression, even in thefield of disability studies. Some studies argue that unemployment is caused bydepression, while others claim that the other way around is true. This study,attempts to establish a clear causal relationship between unemployment anddepression using an autoregressive cross-lagged model, based on the KoreaWelfare Panel Data from 2006 to 2012. The results of this study show thatdepression has statistically significant effect on unemployment for individualswith disabilities. In other words, it is not that unemployment causes depression. Various political implications of this study are discussed in the conclusion.
