초록

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 장애노인을 대상으로 자존감과 삶의 만족 사이의 상호인과적 관계와 자존감과 삶의 만족의 잠재평균 성별 차이를 알아보는 것이다. 연구방법: 한국복지패널의 15차 연도와16차 연도 자료를 분석하였다. 연구대상은 60세 이상 장애노인 893명이다. 자존감과 삶의 만족의상호인과적 관계를 알아보기 위하여 자기회귀 교차지연 모형을 분석하였으며, 자존감과 삶의 만족의잠재평균 성별 차이를 다집단 비교를 포함하는 평균 및 공변량 구조분석으로 알아보았다. 연구결과: 첫째, 자존감이 높을수록 이후의 높은 삶의 만족을 유의하게 예측하였다. 자존감의 삶의 만족에 대한효과의 크기는 성별 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 삶의 만족이 높을수록 이후의 높은 자존감을 유의하게 예측하였다. 삶의 만족의 자존감에 대한 효과의 크기는 여성 장애노인보다 남성 장애노인에서 유의하게 더 컸다. 셋째, 자존감과 삶의 만족의 잠재평균의 성별 차이는 유의하지 않았다. 결론: 장애노인의자존감 향상을 위해 삶의 만족에 개입하거나, 역으로 삶의 만족 향상을 위해 자존감에 개입할 수있을 것이다. 다만, 삶의 만족에 대한 개입의 자존감에 대한 효과는 남성 장애노인에서 더 클 것으로기대된다.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examined the reciprocal relationships between self-esteem and life satisfaction in elderly with disabilities, and gender differences of latent mean of self-esteem and life satisfaction. Method: The researchers used data from the 15th to 16th waves in a Korean Welfare Panel Study. The subjects were 893 elderly with disabilities. Analysis on mean and covariance structures involving multigroup comparisons was conducted to examine the autoregressive and cross-lagged relationships between and gender differences of latent mean of self-esteem and life satisfaction. Results: The findings of this study showed the following. First, higher self-esteem significantly predicted subsequent higher life satisfaction. The effect size of self-esteem on life satisfaction was not different in the male elderly and the female. Second, higher life satisfaction predicted subsequent higher self-esteem. The effect size of life satisfaction on self-esteem was lager in the male elderly than the female. Third, gender differences of latent mean of self-esteem and life satisfaction were not significant. Conclusion: Life satisfaction should be intervened in order to improve the self-esteem of the elderly with disabilities, or conversely, self-esteem support should be sought to improve their life satisfaction. However, the effect of life satisfaction intervention on self-esteem is expected to be greater in male disabled elderly.
