Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the knowledge and attitude on tuberculosis for the undergraduates in Daejon, South Korea and Yanbien, China. A descriptive study was conducted. Data were collected between May and July of 2015 in each college and a total of 258 students assigned to 150 in Daejon and 108 in Yanbien participated in the study. The data were analyzed by using the SPSS 21.0. In Daejon group, the score for knowledge was 13.73 out of 30 points, for awareness in attitude, 46.07 and for prevention behavior in attitude, 44.66 out of 60 points. In Yanbien group, the score for knowledge was 13.06 out of 30 points, for awareness in attitude, 44.72 and for prevention behavior in attitude, 44.19 out of 60 points. There was a significant difference in awareness on tuberculosis between the two groups. In both groups, there were positive significant correlations among knowledge, attitude, PPD test and educational experience about tuberculosis. Based on these findings, education which can guide undergraduates to have correct information and positive attitude should be designed to manage tuberculosis infection. Therefore, it would be utilized in tuberculosis management education effectively.
