이 연구는 지역사회복지기관 이용자를 중심으로 가계의 재무상태와 행복의 관계를 탐색하였다. 분석 자료는 2014년 1월부터 3월까지 서울·경기·충남지역의 사회복지관 및 지역자활센터 이용자로부터 수집되었으며, 응답자는 총 445명이었다. 경험적 분석을 수행하였으며, 종속변수는 행복수준, 독립변수는 가계의 소득, 지출, 저축활동, 채무불이행경험, 재무관리역량이었다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지역사회복지기관 응답자들의 행복수준은 가계소득이 증가할수록 높아지는 반면, 가계지출이 증가하면 낮아는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 저축은 응답자의 행복수준을 높이지만, 채무불이행 경험은 그 반대의 결과를 수반했다. 셋째, 응답자의 재무관리역량이 증가할 경우 행복수준도 증가하였다. 본 연구의 이와 같은 분석결과는 가계재무상태와 재무관리역량이 지역사회복지기관 이용자들의 행복수준에 결정적인 영향을 미치고 있음을 알려준다. 또한, 지역사회복지기관 이용자들을 위한 재무교육과 자산형성지원 프로그램 등이 더욱 확대될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study explored the relationship between financial status and happiness by focusing on community center users in Korea. The data employed in the study were collected with questionnaires from 445 community welfare center users in Seoul, Gyunggi and Choongnam. The dependent variable was happiness, independent variables were household income, household expense, saving behavior, debt default and financial capability. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, household income and expense had the opposite effects: the former promoted happiness while the latter demoted happiness. Second, household saving increased the happiness, while debt default brought the opposite result. Third, financial capability increased the happiness. Overall, these results indicate that the happiness of community center users is determined by their financial status and financial capability, and therefore call for financial education and asset building programs for community center users.
