연구목적: 본 연구는 심방세동 환자들의 자가간호에 대한 경험과 의미를 이해하고자 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 적용한 질적 연구이다. 연구방법: 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 참여자는 영구적 심방세동 진단을 받은 지 6개월 이상 된 18세 이상의 성인 환자 중, 본 연구에의 참여에 동의를 한 10명의 환자로서 외래를 통해 치료를 받고 있는 환자를 대상자로 선정하였다. 모든 인터뷰는 참여자가 말한 그대로 기록하여 작성되었고 자료는 질적연구의 내용분석방법을 사용하여 분석되었다. 연구결과: 3개의 주제 (자가간호에 대한 인식, 내적자원과 외적자원의 활용, 질병수용을 통한 행동변화) 와 15개의 하위주제가 분석을 위해 도출되었다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과는 심방세동 환자의 질병에 대한 이해와 자가간호 전략수립에 사용될 것이며, 심방세동 환자의 지속적인 자가간호 이행을 위한 중재 개발 시 환자의 자가간호의 중요성에 대한 인식을 고취시키고, 동기강화를 위한 환자개별 내외적 자원과 행동변화 관련 여러 요인에 대한 사정이 고려되어야 함을 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to understand the meaning and experience with regard to self-care of patients with chronic atrial fibrillation. Methods: This study adopted the qualitative research using focus group interviews. A total of 10 patients participated in this study. All interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: The three themes emerged from the analysis: 1) awareness of self-care needs 2) utilization of internal and external resources of self-care 3) behavioral change through acceptance of illness. Additionally, 15 sub-themes were identified. Conclusion: This study suggest that self-care strategies for atrial fibrillation should be considered the patients’ perception toward illness, motivation to self-care and assessment for patients’ internal and external resources and intention to behavioral change during illness trajectory. Furthermore, healthcare professionals should be aware of importance of patients’ activation on their self-care.
