이 연구에서는 미술활동 프로그램이 지역아동센터 이용 아동의 자아존중감 발달에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위한 목적으로 연구를 추진하였다. 지역아동센터를 이용하고 있는 아동 32명을 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 실험집단과 통제집단으로 설정하여 20회기에 걸쳐 미술활동 프로그램을 적용한 다음 각 집단별로 사전-사후 검사간의 대응표본 평균의 차이 검증을 실시하였다. 미술활동 프로그램이 지역아동센터 아동의 전체 자아존중감 발달에 미치는 효과가 어떠한가를 알아보기 위하여 사전검사 평균과 사후검사 평균의 차이를 검증하였다. 실험집단의 경우 전체 자아존중감 뿐만 아니라 자아존중감을 구성하는 네 가지 하위요인들에서 사후검사 점수가 높게 나타났으므로 미술활동 프로그램은 지역아동센터 이용 아동의 자아존중감 발달에 미치는 효과가 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 연구결과를 토대로 지역아동센터에서는 미술활동 프로그램을 적극 활용하여야 하며, 사회기술훈련, 스트레스관리 프로그램, 자아존중감 발달 프로그램, 집단상담 프로그램 등을 확대 보급함으로써 이용 아동들의 심리정서발달을 지원하는 노력이 적극적으로 전개되어야 한다는 것을 제안하였다.
Abstract

The experimental group and the control group were applied and the art activity program was applied for 20 sessions. Then, the paired t-test was performed for the difference between the pre-post test. In the experimental group, the post-test score was higher in the four sub-factors that constitute the self-esteem as well as the total self-esteem. Therefore, it was found that the art activity program had an effect on the improvement of the self-esteem of the children using the community child centers. Based on the results of the research, community children centers should actively utilize the art activity programs and expand efforts to support the development of psychological emotions in children using social skills training, stress management programs, self-esteem improvement programs, and group counseling programs.
