프로젝트학습이 학업성취도와 인식에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 프로젝트 기반 수업을 통하여 학생들의 개인 활동 및 팀 활동이 강화되어 영어 학습 향상을 이끌어내는지를 관찰하고 비교 분석하여 프로젝트 수업의 효과와 개선점을 제시하고자한다. 프로젝트 수업을 통해 문제를 해결해 나가는 학습 활동이 학생들의 학업성취와의 관계를 비교 연구하기 위해서 학급당 28명-31명으로 구성된 중학교 4개 반 110명의 학생들을 대상으로 하여 10주간 진행하였다. 실험 전에는 프로젝트 수업 경험이 전혀 없는 4개 학급을 선정한 뒤, 2개 학급은 학생활동 중심 프로젝트 기반 학습을 실시하는 실험 반으로 2개 학급은 학생들의 활동을 최소화한 전통적인 수업형태인 교사 위주의 강의 수업으로 진행하는 비교 반으로 나누었다. 프로젝트 기반 수업을 받는 실험반 학급은 교과 융합의 형태와 영어교과 단독 형태로 프로젝트 수업을 진행하였다. 프로젝트 기반 수업 적용 전과 후의 서술형 쓰기를 포함한 시험을 통해 영어 성적이 얼마나 향상되었는지를 비교함과 동시에 학생들의 프로젝트 기반 수업에 대한 인식을 알아보았다. 학생들의 인식은 ‘모둠별 활동 상황 평가지’와 ‘프로젝트 수업 소감문’을 통하여 알아보았다. 쓰기를 포함한 실험 전 평가와 실험 후 평가에서 프로젝트 학습법으로 수업한 집단과 강의 수업으로만 진행된 집단 간의 학업성취도 및 프로젝트 학습에 대한 인식을 분석한 결과 프로젝트 학습을 실시한 집단에서는 그 차이가 유의미하지는 않았으나 학업성취도가 높게 나타나는 경향이 있었다. 이러한 결과는 프로젝트 수업 과정에서 개인 간의 협력활동이 팀 활동에 유효함을 경험한 학생들의 적극적인 인식 변화 때문이며 이것으로 인해 쓰기에 대한 태도와 적극성도 높아졌으며 주제에 대한 계획과 분석 능력을 통한 결과 도출에 대한 표현 능력과 자신감이 유의미하게 변화되었기 때문으로 사료된다.
Abstract
The aim of this research is to investigate and analyze whether the Project based Learning effectiveness by enhancing students’individual activities and team activities is linked students’English academic achievement. In order to compare and research the relationships with academic achievement and students’learning activities to solve the problem through project based learning, we were divided into control and experimental groups which was selected four classes of 9th grade at a middle school with each class made up of 28-31 female students for 10 weeks. Before this experimental project, they had never had the Project based Learning in their class. After selecting four classes, Project-based Learning in which students carry out their projects was put into the experimental groups, while traditional lecture method was put into the control groups. Before and after application of project-based learning, we found how improved grades in English through the grades comparison including writing descriptive test and recognized the awareness of the Project-based Learning. Project based learning was tend to present to be more effective in enhancing students’English achievement than traditional lecture method even though there was no significance. This results mean that the experimental groups using Project-based Learning presented more expressive power and confidence by planning and analyzing capabilities.
