유치원 교사가 경험한 유아미술교육과 시각문화에 관한 연구

본 연구는 현재 유아교육 현장에서 교사들이 시행하고 있는 유아 미술활동의 실태와 유아미술교육에서 시각문화를 적절하게 활용할 수 있는 방안에 대한 유아교사들의 요구를 질적으로 분석 하였다. 연구의 목적은 시각문화를 활용한 유아미술교육을 위한 연구로 현재 현장에서 이루어지고 있는 미술활동의 특성과 한계를 알아보고, 시각문화를 활용한 유아미술교육에 반영되어야 할 시사점을 얻는데 있다. 이 연구를 위하여 유치원에서 근무하는 교사 7명이 연구에 참여하였고, 집단면담, 심층면담, 동료교사와의 협의, 교사의 저널쓰기 등의 자료를 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 유아교사들은 미술활동에 교육적 가치를 두고 하루 일과 중에서 매우 중요한 영역으로 구성하여 운영하고 있었다. 둘째, 유아들과의 미술활동을 위해 사진이나 광고 등의 시각매체를 부분적으로 도입하여 활용하고 있으나 시각문화에 대한 이해와 매체의 다양성에 대한 정보와 적절한 교수-학습 방법이 부족하다고 하였다. 셋째, 유아들이 일상생활에서 시각문화를 경험하고 있지만 이를 제대로 이해하고 적절하게 수용하기 위해서는 교사교육이 필요하다고 하였다.
Abstract
This study analyzed qualitatively the actual condition of children's art activity to conduct by teachers in early childhood education and the contents of the needs of early childhood teachers on how to use visual culture appropriately in early childhood art education. The purposes of this study were to observe the characteristics and limitations of art activities that work being done in the field and to obtain implications for the art education of children using visual culture. For this study, seven teachers who work in kindergartens participated in the study, and collected and analyzed the data through group interviews, in-depth interviews, discussions with other teachers, and teacher's journal. The results of this study were as follows: First, early childhood teachers placed educational value on art activities and were organizing and managing that as an important in daily life. Second, while visual mediums such as photos and advertisements were being adopted and used for art activities with young children, but there were insufficient amounts of an understanding of visual culture, information regarding the diversity of mediums, and appropriate teaching and learning methods. Third, while young children were experiencing the visual culture as a part of their daily lives, but in order to properly understand and embrace it, teachers are required to education it.
