Abstract

We analyzed empirically that the main effect of HPWS on the flexible work and the moderating effect of automation, utilizing the workplace panel data from Korea Labor Institute. We extracted the balanced panel data consisted of 3 waves(the year of 2015, 2017, 2019) and 309 workplaces that have over 100 employees. We analyzed this data-set by both the fixed effect model and the random effect model, the results were similar on both models. We interpreted the results based on the fixed effect model. The results are as follows. HPWS made positive effects on the adoption of flexible work, The automation level neutralized the effects of HPWS on the adoption of flexible work. According to the results, we speculate that HPWS and automation interacts but automation can encroach the role of HPWS on the outcome. We discussed the practical and academic implications of these results.
