본 연구에서는 우리나라가 항공자유화협정을 체결한 국가와의 항공운송관계가 어떻게 변화했는지를 분석함으로써 항공자유화가 실질적으로 어떤 효과를 가져왔고 그에 따른 시사점은 무엇인지를 파악하고자 한다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 항공자유화에 따른 효과를 분석하기 위하여 항공자유화의 가장 중요한 요소이자 특징이라고 할 수 있는 공급력 설정에 대한 지표를 중점적으로 분석한다. 연구 대상으로는 우리나라의 주요 항공대상 국가인 장거리 노선의 미국, 중거리 노선의 태국, 단거리 노선의 일본과 중국을 분석 대상 국가로 선정하여 화물과 여객부문 각각의 운항횟수, 취항항공사 수, 노선 수 및 수송량 등 4개 주요 지표의 변화 추이를 분석한다. 연구 방법으로는 우선 4개 지표에 대하여 항공자유화의 이전과 이후에 유의한 차이가 있는 지 여부를 검증하기 위하여 윌콕슨 순위 합 검증(Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test)을 사용하였다. 아울러 항공자유화 여부가 운항횟수 및 수송량 등 계량적 지표에 미친 영향을 검토하기 위하여 국내총생산(GDP)과 항공자유화 여부를 독립변수로 설정하고, 운항횟수, 화물 수송량 및 여객 수송량을 각각 종속변수로 설정한 더미변수를 이용한 회귀분석을 하였다. 분석 결과, 미국을 제외한 태국, 일본, 중국 등 나라와의 항공자유화 이전과 이후의 변화 차이를 도출했으며 항공자유화 효과에 영향을 미치는 각 지표들은 미국을 제외한 기타 나라와의 항공자유화에 정(+)의 효과를 나타냈다.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate how relationship between Korea and other countries, which have made open sky agreements, has been changing and what effect they could have. Supply capacity regarded as the most critical factor is analyzed to find out the effect of open sky agreement. We have researched trends focusing on the number of flight, airlines, routes and transport with four major air transport country, long-haul for the U.S., middle-haul for Thailand and short-haul for Japan and China. Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test is used to examine whether there are effects after the open sky agreements between Korea and these nations. Also we have done regression tests to figure out whether GDP and the open sky agreements affect the number of flight and the amount of cargo and passenger transportation with dummy factor. From the research, we find out that there are positive effects on the agreements with Thailand, Japan and China except the U.S.
