『유로설전(遺老說傳)』관음설화의 유형과 양상

観音信仰は東アジアにおいて広く信仰されたきた仏教信仰である。ところが東アジアにおける観音信仰は、仏教信仰の範囲にとどまらず、地域によって、その地域の土着信仰と習合する形で展開していった。本稿では、沖縄の説話集の『遺老説伝』に収録された合せて5話の観音説話の分析に基づいて、沖縄における観音信仰の諸相を考察したものである。第一に、『遺老説伝』の第35話を日本本土の文献説話集によって頻繁に伝えられている、いわゆる「女人救済霊験譚」と比較することにより、沖縄にも日本本土の「女人救済霊験譚」に類似した観音信仰説話が伝わっていたことが確認できた。また第35話には、観音像の由来について二つの説が述べられているが、その背景には仏教の観音信仰と沖縄の民俗信仰という二つの流れがあることを指摘した。第二に、沖縄における観音信仰と民俗信仰の習合という視点から、『遺老説伝』の観音説話に注目した。全部で4話の説話の内容を分析することにより、観音信仰と民俗信仰の習合という特徴が明らかになった。沖縄の石神信仰やビジュル信仰が観音信仰に結び付いたのである。第三に、『遺老説伝』の第139話に述べられている内容の一部に注目することにより、観音菩薩がどのようにして漁業や航海の神として広く信仰されていたのか、あらためて確認することができた。
Abstract
Kannonbosatsu was widely worshiped in East Asia. In each region Kannonbosatsu was fused with indigenous beliefs in the form of worship. This paper is a research on Okinawa Irousetsuden. This paper was analyzed on aspects of the tradition and its type in IrousetsudenIn first, <Woman relief motif> was confirmed in Irousetsuden <Woman relief motif> appeared frequently in the Japanese tales. It is tale of the 35th in Irousetsuden. This paper noted a tale of the 35th in Irousetsuden. This paper conclused with a phenomenon of the previous step is a reason to exist on the same incident, two series of Kannon worship and Okinawa folk religion closely.In second, This paper noted from the point of view of the characteristics in Okinawa folklore and Kannon worship. Okinawa folklore and Kannon worship was narratived with convergence pattern. In this case, Okinawa folklore means Seoksin(stone) worship and Binduru worship. Seoksin(stone) worship and Binduru worship were worshiped before Buddhism in Okinawa. Kannon tales based on the result of the fusion was confirmed.In third, this paper noticed that Kannonbosatsu is the god as sailing and fishing of locally much was widely worshiped in Japan. In this paper, only Kannon worship narrative contained in Irousetsuden were investigated. Kannon worship forward etc. Other literature and a comparison of folk ritual performed in the folk scene of the aspects of the Kannon worship into sight, Okinawa is to illuminate aspects.
