日本語における外来語のアクセントの分析 - JLPT語彙の外来語を中心に -

Abstract

The present papers provides a comparative analysis of the accents of loanwords included in “The Dictionary of NHK for Accents” (1993, 2015) and “The Dictionary of Shin Myung Hae (新明解) for Accents” (1994, 2015). For this purpose, we extract loanwords in accordance with the vocabulary level set out in JLPT, specify the accent nucleus of each loanword based on the dictionaries, and analyze them in a more-by-mora fashion. Our result shows that a large part of words raging from a 2-mora word to a 5-mora word is the “front-high” type. The Broadcasting Culture Research Institute in Japan states that “The Dictionary of NHK for Accents, New Edition” (2015) has introduced the “flat-accept” type of loanwords as long as they are highly used in the language. We analyze “The Dictionary of NHK of Accents” (2015) and “The Dictionary of Shin Myung Hae of Accents” (2015). In terms of ink, comments, channel, etc., “The Dictionary of NHK of Accents, New Edition” (2015) uses flat-accents, while “The Dictionary of Shin Myung Hae for Accents” (2015) uses the form of front-highs. “The Dictionary of NHK of Accents, New Edition” (2015) includes a greater number of flat-accent loanwords; it also includes a large number of compound nouns and abbreviation forms with lengthened original words such as “Amerikan Indian” in contrast to “Amerika.” Notational differences have thus been observed between the two dictionaries. As a future prospect, we would like to provide materials for teaching Japanese phonetic accents by investing differences in the pronunciation of loanwords among three generations from the Tokyo area.
