Geomorphology and formative symbolism of totem pole(‘Jangseung’) has naturally simplified beauty of form represents sincerity of the people. This shows that the formative symbolism of ‘Jangseung’ in each region has value of spiritual power and origin of life of Korean people. Therefore ‘Jangseung’ gives us some grounds to realize our ancestor’s cultural life, thought of the society and sense of aesthetics with artistic value. The study of ‘Seok Jangseung(Stone totem pole)’ has revaluated its formative symbolism of people’s folk art. For many years, traditional cultural heritage has attached importance too much to scholastics of Confucian ideas. The tendency of weigh importance on Confucianism neglected value of folk art done by people in general. In consequence, the art works(Photography of Stone totem pole ‘Seok Jangseung’) photographic restoration of its own identity of folk art. In short, this study of ‘Seok Jangseung’ raise an issue of symbolism of Seok Jangseung’s significant value which expresses mystery as well as local customs.
