Abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of Rhythmic Auditory cue on the gait in individual Idiopathic Parkinson’s Disease (IPD). The objects were patients who were inpatients or outpatients due to Idiopathic PD at Department of Rehabilitation Medicine section Physical Therapy of B hospital in Seoul. And we carried out the gait analysis by dividing them with two group. Patients group were 15 persons IPD, and Controls group were 12 age-matched healthy persons. Patients group divided two conditions : one condition had applied on the no cue and another had done rhythmic auditory cue. The gait analysis was used with VICON 512 Motion Analysis System. Following are the results of comparative analysis about the effect of before and after applied on rhythmic auditory cue according to the Spatio-temporal, kinematic parameters. The results were First, about Spatio-temporal parameters the applied rhythmic auditory cue on the condition there was significant decrease double limb support and increase of stride length (p<.05). Second, at the kinematic parameters the applied rhythmic auditory cue on the condition had the significant decrease pelvic, hip, knee and ankle during the stance phase(p<.05). Third, at the kinematic parameters the applied rhythmic auditory cue on the condition had the significant decrease pelvic, hip, knee and ankle during the swing phase(p<.05). In conclusions, the use of rhythmic auditory cue on the gait in individual IPD patients improves gait pattern and performance. rhythmic auditory cue improved spatio-temporal parameter and kinematic parameters in patients with IPD. Therefore at the rehabilitation training of IPD patients rhythmic auditory cue would be used for recovery and gait reeducation, may arise through the patients functional ability. Clinical application of rhythmic auditory cue may be another model of rehabilitation programme for treatment of patients with IPD.
