Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of music therapy using rhythmic auditory stimulation(RAS) on gait, balance and quality of life in patients with Parkinson's disease. The 10m gait test and gaitview were used to examine changes in the patient's gait and balance, while the Parkinson's quality of life scale was employed to measure quality of life. As a result of the study, first, four patients exhibited enhancements in gait speed and stride length. Second, the difference in the pressure distribution ratio between the left and right feet, as well as between the forefoot and hindfoot, decreased during both stationary stance and walking. Third, the scores on the quality of life scale, particularly those pertaining to the overall well-being of Parkinson's disease patients, exhibitied an increase. These results suggest that music therapy using the rhythm auditory stimulation technique holds promise as a positive and effective intervention, not only for enhancing physical functionality but also for addressing emotional well-being in Parkinson's disease patients.
