이 연구의 목적은 정신지체아동의 지능지수별에 따른 어휘발달의 특성을 알아보기 위함이다. 전국의 10개 시도에 소재한 24개의 장애아 어린이집 또는 장애아동 조기교육 기관에 재학하고 있는 정신지체아동 890명을 대상으로 지능검사와 어휘력 검사를 실시하여 접수 환산이 가능한 365명의 자료를 분석하였다. 자료 처리는 일원배치분산분석과 로지스틱 방정식에 의한 곡선회귀분석을 적용하였다. 이 연구에서는 정신지체아동의 지능지수별 어휘발달 속도가 다르고, 또한 어휘발달의 지연정도와 최대 어휘발달 시점에 차이가 있음을 제시하였다. 결론적으로 정신지체아동의 교수ㆍ학습을 위해서는 생활연령에 따른 어휘연령 특성을 고려해야 함을 이 연구에서는 시사하고 있다.
Abstract
Intelligence is an effective yard stick to foresight toward future developmental possibility on academic achievement. However the mental retarded children were indicated with low intelligence quotient. Therefore it is very difficult to foresight their vocabulary ability based on their intelligence quotient with chronical age. The purpose of this study was to suggest the vocabulary developmental characteristics based on mental retarded children’s intelligence quotient. The 365 mental retarded children were participated for this study. One way ANOVA and nonlinear regression by logistic equation were utilized for this study. The results of this study were that: (a) the mental retarded children’s vocabulary developmental speed was different based on their intelligence quotient; and (b) the mental retarded children’s maximum vocabulary developmental age was different based on their intelligence quotient. Therefore this study suggested that vocabulary age and chronical age were considered for teaching of mental retarded children.
