발화분석으로 본 노인의 담화와 주제진술특성

본 연구에서는 65세 이상 노인 40명(남녀 각 20명)을 대상으로 하여 발화를 수집하였으며 발화분석을 통해 각 성별 내에서 5가지 담화유형에 따라 전체발화수와 주제진술률 차이를 알아보았다. 또한 이와 함께 각 담화유형 내에서 성별에 따른 주제진술률 차이를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 전체발화수에서는 남녀 모두 설명발화에서 유의하게 많은 발화수를 나타냈으며, 남성에서만 절차담화가 이야기, 일화, 설명에 비해 유의하게 적은 발화수를 나타냈다. 주제진술률의 경우, 여성은 나머지 4담화유형에 비해 설명담화만 주제진술률이 유의하게 낮았으며, 남성은 나머지 3담화유형에 비해 설명과 일화담화가 유의하게 주제진술률이 낮았다. 각 성별 내에서 담화유형에 따른 주제진술률에 다소 차이가 있었으나, 각 담화유형 내에서는 일화담화만이 성별에 따른 차이가 있었다. 본 연구는 주제진술률을 기준으로 담화유형과 성별에 따라 정상 노인의 담화특성을 살펴봄으로써 노인 담화분석에서의 새로운 기준 마련을 위한 기초 자료로써 그 의의가 있으며, 향후 담화유형별 유도질문 및 대상자의 다양화와 학력 등 내적요인 통제 등을 반영한 연구를 통해 보다 객관적인 기준 마련이 요구된다.
Abstract
his study investigated discourses collected from 40 elderly people (20 men and 20 women) aged over 65 through 5 discourse types by analyzing gender differences in the total number of utterances and topic comment by discourse type. Results obtained from analysis on the total number of utterances show that the number of descriptive discourse was significantly high in both men and women, whereas the number of procedural discourse was significantly lower only in men, compared to narrative, expository, and descriptive discourses. For topic comment, whereas the number of descriptive discourse was significantly lower in women, compared to other 4 discourse types; the number of descriptive and expository discourses was significantly lower in men, compared to other 3 discourse types. Notwithstanding a slight difference between genders in topic comment by discourse type, there was a gender difference only in expository discourse out of the discourse types. This study has its significance since it provides basic data for new criteria to analyze the elderly’s discourses by investigating the characteristics of the normal elderly by discourse type and gender based on topic comment, and for further research, leading questions by discourse type and research to which inner control factors such as diversified subjects and academic background are applied are required to prepare more objective criteria.
