Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of gait characteristics and usage satisfaction between three types of feet in older unilateral transtibial amputees. Seven unilateral transtibial amputees were participated in this study, they are 65 years(mean), activity level k-2 and over, after amputation at least five years, using silicone liner and no phantom pain or neuroma. Walking characteristics was analyzed by three-dimensional motion analysis system (Raptor Digital Realtime system) and satisfaction was measured by prosthetic evaluation questionnaire (PEQ). Through the result of this study, when wearing high-activity prosthetic foot have been improved on kinematic characteristics then lower-activity prosthetic foot and PEQ scores were higher as well. This study shows that when transtibial amputee in elderly wearing activity and high-activity prosthetic foot compared to lower- activity prosthetic foot leads to a more natural gait and present a clinical practice that can increase satisfaction.
