초록
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects dementia prevention programs have on mental health and cognitive function in the elderly. The program was conducted to 75 elderly people for 90 minutes, once a week for a total of eight weeks. To measure the functions, both GDS-K and SMCQ, as well as MMSE-K were used before and after the treatment program. There was a statistically significant difference in GDS-K from 7.85±3.62 to 4.24±3.50, SMCQ from 8.45±5.34 to 3.65±3.93, and MMSE-K from 24.06±2.51 to 27.49±3.75 before and after the dementia prevention program (p<.05). The findings of this study suggest that dementia prevention programs can positively assist in improving both mental health and cognitive functioning in the elderly, being a positive, helpful tool for them to use in everyday life.
