초록

Electroacupuncture (EA) aims to augment the therapeutic effects of traditional acupuncture by applying electric currents to needles. While existing EA systems rely on wired connections using alligator clips and magnetic attachments, their weights exert mechanical stress to acupuncture needles, leading to discomfort and pain for patients. To address this limitation, we propose a miniaturized wearable EA stimulator featuring a magnetically cou- pled needle interconnection mechanisms (MCNIM), ensuring easy and stable electrical interconnection of the needle and stimulator without excessive stress on needles. The compact stimulator (43 mm × 33 mm × 20 mm) can be worn onto skin, eliminating the need for tethered wires and connectors. The mechanical robustness of the magnetic interconnection is evaluated by applying bending stress onto needles while monitoring force and contact resistance. The results demonstrate that our MCNIM-based wearable EA system maintains reliable attachment while signifi- cantly reducing discomfort associated with existing wire-connected EA systems. This novel approach enhances user comfort and mobility, paving the way for more effective and user-friendly wearable EA technologies.
