본 연구에서는 코로나19 이후 중․고등학생들의 독서량 변화를 살펴보았다. 우선 학교급, 성별, 독서 태도 등에 따라 코로나19 이후에 어떤 독서 실태를 보이는지 그 전반적인 경향성과 분포를 살펴보고, 부모의 독서 신념, 가정에서의 독서 환경, 사회경제적 배경, 부모의 직업, 학력에 따른 코로나19 이후의 독서 실태를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 평소 자발적으로 독서를 하는 학생들이나 독서를 선호하는 학생들 사이에서는 독서량이 늘어난 경우가 많았으며, 이는 불확실한 상황 속에서도 긍정적인 독서 태도가 유지될 경우 독서량이 증가할 수 있다는 것을 시사한다. 반면, 독서 자발성이나 선호도가 낮은 학생들에서는 큰 변화가 없었다. 또한, 가정 내의 독서 활동과 부모의 교육 수준에 따라 독서량의 변화에 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 사회경제적 배경이나 부모의 직업은 상대적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다.
Abstract
This study examined changes in reading volume among middle and high school students after COVID-19. It first looked at the overall trends and distributions in reading behavior post-COVID-19 based on school level, gender, and reading attitudes, and then explored the reading behavior according to parental reading beliefs, home reading environments, socioeconomic backgrounds, and parents' occupations and education levels. The results indicated that students who voluntarily read regularly or have a preference for reading saw an increase in their reading volume, suggesting that a positive reading attitude can lead to increased reading even in uncertain circumstances. Conversely, there was little change among students with low spontaneity or preference for reading. Additionally, significant differences were observed in reading volume changes according to the presence of reading activities at home and parents' education levels, while socioeconomic background and parents' occupations showed relatively minor differences.
