SF가 그리는 미래사회로의 초대 - 한·영 SF에서 나타난 문제의식과 교육과의 접점

2020년대를 전후로 하여 SF 장르가 떠오르며, 과학기술로 구현된 미래사회와 인간에 대한 고민이 드러나게 되었다. SF가 건드려주는 미래사회의 문제는 사실 우리가 직면하고 있는 문제이다. ‘미래’라는 시공간적인 거리감으로 인해 그 고민을 직접적으로 다룰 때 생길 수 있는 반감은 줄어들고, 대신 신선하고 낯선 충격을 안겨준다. 과학소설을 통한 이런 문제 제기는 교육의 현장에서 미래세대에게 ‘익숙하지만 낯선’ 효과를 통해 새로운 시각으로의 접근과 미래사회에서의 ‘나’와 ‘우리’를 고민하도록 한다. 본 연구에서는 영미 SF 작품 중에서 특히 많이 다뤄지는 작품인 메리 셸리와 필립 K. 딕의 작품, 아이작 아시모프, 엘리자베스의 문의 작품에서 인간됨의 조건과 노인과 장애의 문제를 들여다볼 것이다. 한국 SF의 경우 여성 작가들의 시선이 머무른 곳에 청소년 등장인물이 자리하기에 김초엽, 천선란, 정세랑의 작품을 선택하였다. 본 연구는 2020년대를 전후하여 붐을 맞은 SF에서 교육과의 접점을 마련하는 방안을 찾아보고자 시도하였다.
Abstract
With the rise of science fiction genre in the 2020s, concerns about the future society and human beings were revealed. The problems that science fiction touches are the problems that we face. Because of the spatial and temporal distance of ‘the future in science fiction, ’ the antipathy that can arise when directly touching these concerns is reduced, and, instead, a fresh and unfamiliar shock is given to its readers. Raising these issues through science fiction make it possible to approach new perspectives and to think over 'me' and 'we' in the future society. In this study, we look into the conditions of being human, the problems of the elderly, and the disabled in the works of Mary Shelley, Philip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov, and Elizabeth Moon. In the case of Korean science fiction, the works of Kim Choyeop, Cheon Seonran, and Jeong Serang were selected because their adolescent characters are located where the gaze of female authors have been. This study attempted to find a way to establish a contact point between education and science fiction which is on the rise.
