동학농민전쟁의 사상적 기반에 대한 연구현황과 과제 ― 동학(사상)과 농민전쟁의 관계를 중심으로 ―
A Current Situation and Issue of Study on the Ideological Foundation of Dong’ hak Peasant War -Focused on the relationship between Donghak(idea) and Peasant War-

This article intended to explore a fresh understanding after having an intensive review on the various views about the relationship between Donhak and Peasant War that has been an important issue among researches regarding Dong’ hak Peasant War. The relationship between Donhak and Donhak Peasant War is one of the core issues concerning the historical meaning or characteristics of the Donhak Peasant War. Therefore, the study concerning the relationship between the two has been accumulated by many scholars. The understanding about the relationships between Donhak Idea and Donhak Peasant War can be divided into three main positions. ① Donhak Idea = Guiding Ideology: an understanding that Donhak Idea is the Guiding Ideology of Peasant War or Donhak Idea itself is the ideology base of Peasant War. ② Religious outer skin theory or organic relation theory: The position that Peasantry War was not possible if there was no organization of Donghak Idea under the background of that era accepted religious outer skin theory raised in the 『The German Peasant War』by Engels.(religious outer skin theory) or the opinion that although the religious theory of Donghak didn't become the guiding principle of Peasant War as it is, but has inner relationship through newly translated Donghak.(organic relationship theory). ③ Disconnection theory: Being the position that none relationship exist between Donghak Idea and Peasant War, but only an organization was provided by Donghak, and Peasant War was broken due to increased awareness of farmers and as well as innovation principle or teachings by Jeon Bong-joon. Those views have their own arguments but has limitation as well to its respective view. To go beyond the research so far, a fresh approach is requested to the Donghak Peasant War. Above all, the people's movement shouldn't be approached based on Priori understanding of history but be analyzed inner perception of people indicated from its development process or terms desired. Through which a specific approach should be made in which world those people had a living, how they responded upon faced with violent changes came from the port opening or invasion & exploitations of foreign powers, and what kind of changes were exposed under such process. There could be hidden weapons in it capable to reflect modern period overcome hardships.
