동아시아사 서술의 의미와 그 한계― 고등학교 『동아시아사』 근대 부분 서술 내용 분석 ―

Abstract

This thesis analyzes the modern history narrative of the high school textbook “East Asian History,” the first of its kind in the world, published in March 2013. The unit examines the reorganization of the East Asian region undergoing the turmoil of invasion, subjection and resistance, focusing on the search for the nation state. For this period which generally, covers the mid-19th century up to 1945, the Topics of “Opening of the Ports and the Establishment of the Nation State,” “Imperialist Invasion,” “Nationalism and Nationalist Movements,” “Efforts toward Peace,” “Reception of Western Civilization and Changes.”In detail, in the first chapter, the characteristics, objectives and content of East Asian History textbooks from the 2007 and 2009 curricula were examined. Next, in the second chapter, the modern history parts of two types of textbook from the 2007 and 2009 curricula were analyzed by content element (chapters). Lastly, the effect had by the textbook “History that opens the Future,” a joint publication by the three East Asian countries, on the East Asian history curriculum, was examined, and directions were suggested for the textbook narratives. In conclusion, in order to avoid a narrative centering on Japanese invasion and resistance thereto, it was pointed out that subject such as the migrants of East Asia, comprador capital, and Chinese diaspora, etc., need to have an in-depth discussion.
