초록

Historical coding is the first step in acquiring basic knowledge to start digital history, but it has practical potential to be used in research and educational activities of professional historians. In the field of historical research, the principle of coding has the function of organizing historical data and creating specific contexts and meanings. In particular, the advantage of historical coding in the field of research is that it is possible to reconstruct a large amount of historical data into visual data through coding to newly grasp the contents of historical data itself. On the other hand, in the field of history education, simple causal principles can be applied along with the processing of historical data to help students understand historical events. This study reconstructed historical data containing Hitler-Jugent's activities and scale in Hamburg City before the outbreak of World War II by applying the principle of coding, and explains Hamburg citizens' attitudes toward the Nazis, which were previously difficult to grasp. This study aims to introduce a new method of coding in the way of historical research, not just to reveal the appearance of the German local government's post-Nazi movement based on the activities and scale of Hitler Eugent in Hamburg.
