Abstract
This study focused on the social function of green infrastructure and examined the effect of park use and park environment factors on the physical activity of citizen in park green spaces. According to the results, park use increased physical activity, and the effect was especially greater for high-intensity physical activity. For each day the frequency of park use increased, walking time increased by about 4 minutes, moderate physical activity increased by about 7 minutes (0.22 days), and high-intensity physical activity increased by about 10 minutes (0.26 days). For every 10 minutes of park stay time increased, walking time increased by about 2 minutes. Meanwhile, in order to activate park use, improving specific physical environmental factors was more effective than improving overall satisfaction. In particular, items related to ‘activity diversity and safety’ were evaluated as having a major impact on the frequency of park use for physical activities. Therefore, it is necessary to promote park use for increasing physical activity for citizen. To achieve this, it will be effective to introduce facilities considering various age groups and improve the park environment such as various exercise spaces and physical training facilities, convenience facilities for the elderly, crime prevention facilities, and safety facilities.
