초록

This paper aims to investigate three different statistical approaches for extracting important words by comparing frequency, keyness, and PageRank to create a list of vocabulary for learners of Maritime English. After extracting a vocabulary list by using three methods, a Range program is used to classify the types of vocabulary based on general words, academic words, and unclassified words. We also compare the results of three approaches based on correlation coefficient test. Using an R program, the vocabulary list obtained by frequency as a traditional approach is compared with that of keyness as a reference approach and that of PageRank as a non-reference approach to see if there are any differences between the three approaches. In conclusion, there is little correlation coefficient between frequency, keyness, and PageRank methods for vocabulary extraction.
