Abstract

Heo, Sheng-do had presented 230 new lexical forms(negation+static verbs) with the formation of 『不[bu] + X』. Looking over the changing history of China, we recognized a total of 230 new lexical forms(negation+static verbs) with the formation of『不[bu] + X』. In Hongloumeng of 'Qing Dyansty'『不』is negation affix. However, in Chun by Bajin in 1930s,『不[bu] + X』was presented as a lexical form. In Hongloumeng, one of the masterpieces in the modern Chinese literature, 'negation + static verbs' were used 455 times. Among them, frequent adverbs such as tai, hen, feichang, xiandan, zui shifen, youdian, appeared only twice throughout the book. It is found the vocabulary structure of 『不[bu] + X』 was separated from these combinations. Chun, a literature of the contemporary Chinese period, has 440 「negation + static verbs」. Among them, the combinations with frequent adverbs were found around 30 instances. At this backdrop, 『不[bu] + X』may be viewed as a lexical feature in the modern Chinese period. Also, it can be said that it wasn't until the contemporary Chinese period that 『不[bu] + X』was in the process of settling as an lexical form.
