인간의 색채의식 행위는 내면에서 이루어지는 존재실현의 의미를 일차적으로 가진다. 그런데 이는 사회적 의사소통을 매개하는 기능도 가지고 있다. 여기서 사회적 의사소통이란 구성원인 개인과 개인간의 관계라기보다는 계층과 계층간, 계급과 계급간에 벌어지는 여러 가지 형태의 소통 구조를 의미한다. 이러한 의미의 사회적 의사소통 관계에서 색채의식의 행위는 이를 매개하는 주요한 요소의 하나라고 할 수 있는데, 바로 이 문제를 다루고자하는 것이 색채의 의식이라고 할 수 있다.본 논문은 이 가운데에서도 색채문화의 의식적 의미를 고찰하고, 이를 기반으로 한국문화에 나타난 색채의 의식적 특성을 밝혀 내고자 한다.인류가 사회를 구성하기 이전의 원시적 자연상태 수준에서 색채문화는 대부분 자연을 직접적으로 반영하는 ‘자연의 색’이었다고 할 수 있다. 그리고 제정일치(祭政一致)의 시대에는 종교적 의미를 표현하는 ‘종교의 색’을 주로 사용하였다. 그 이후 절대 권력의 영웅시대에는 그들의 힘을 과시하는 색채문화가 형성되었는데, 이를 ‘지배의 색’이라고 할 수 있다. 근대 이후 민주주의 사상의 발전과 함께 ‘지배의 색’에 대한 ‘저항의 색’ 또는 ‘민중의 색’으로 규정할 수 있는 색채문화가 발전하기 시작하였다. 이와 함께 자아의식이 성장하면서 자신의 정체성(正體性) 문제와 관련하여 여러 가지의 ‘상징의 색’이라고 규정할 수 있는 색채문화가 형성되었다. 무엇보다도 현대에 이르러 개인의 정체성은 상징화되는 근대주의(Modernism)적 단계를 지나서 개개인의 개성을 직접적으로 매개하고 실천하는 다양성의 문화가 형성되었다.본 논문에서는 이러한 기본 관점을 중심으로 한국문화에 나타난 색채의 의식을 시대적으로 정리한 뒤, 이의 맥락에서 색채의식을 전망해보고자 한다.
Abstract

The Chosun time it prohibited the yellow color most plentifully, the fact that it prohibits this color is suppression of China and Sadaeism because of the rulers. The reason where the cloth of white color is prohibited specially from our country is incongruent in our divination by configuration of the ground, a mourning dress with it is used, the aristocratic class it distinguishes an identity, it is because the tendency which prefers the imported goods of the foreign nation has become prevalence. The sign of color the area or the nation, popularity, age, follows in the product and it appears different. From all cultural areas the color delivers the symbol characteristic of history or religion, myth, legend, ceremony and art with information.
