최근 성적 소수자들에 대한 인식의 전환이 이루어지고 있음에도 많은 사람들은 이들을 분명하게 구분하지 못하는 편이다. 특히 성전환자와 동성애자는 동일한 부류의 사람으로 간주되는 경우가 적지 않은데, 이는 잘못이다. 동성애자는 성적 지향이 동성에게로 향해 있는 사람들임에 반해, 성전환자는 자신에게 주어진 생물학적 성이 싫어서 수술 등을 통해 자신의 성을 전환하려 하거나 전환한 사람을 말한다. 트렌스섹슈얼이라 일컬어지는 성전환자는 트렌스젠더, 트렌스베스티트 등과도 다른데, 이 글은 성전환자를 어떻게 보아야 할 것인가에 대한 윤리학적 고찰을 담고 있다. 필자는 성전환자에 대해 제기될 수 있는 비판을 크게 1) 거짓말과 관련한 비판, 2) 불쾌감 야기와 관련한 비판, 3) 육체의 변경과 관련한 비판, 4) 치료가 불필요하다는 비판, 5) 결탁과 관련한 비판, 6) 젠더 고정 관념 강화와 관련한 비판 등으로 나누고 이러한 비판이 적절치 못함을 보여주고자 하고 있다.
Abstract
There is a tendency which doesn't clearly classify the sexual minority even though the recent change to understand the minority has been started. Especially, it is wrong that the transsexual and homosexual are considered as same. The homosexual devotes his/her love to same sex, but the transsexual is called as the person who already changed his/her sex or has tried to change it by operation or some treats because he/she hates his/her own biological sex. The person who changed his/her sex, called as transsexual, is different from transgender and transvestite. It brings about how we take ethical consideration into the person. I want to divide condemnations into these things: 1) the condemnation of lying, 2) the condemnation of causing displeasure, 3) the condemnation of changing human body, 4) the condemnation of unnecessity of treatment, 5) the condemnation of collusion, 6) the condemnation of reinforcing sexual stereotype, and to show that the condemnations are unjustified. Through the argument, I want to make it more clear that difference doesn't mean wrongness.
