Abstract

This paper aims at society concept of Whitehead’s Philosophy in the view of Organism philosophy. He clearly defines society as nexus of social ordered actual entities. Through this analysing on it, I intend to investigate characteristic of society. In whitehead’s philosophy, the ‘nexus’ in ‘nexus of actual entities’ has meaning togetherness with mathematical class. The togetherness is mutual inherence of components through universal common. As spatiotemporal concept, It is the synchronic relation with its environment and the diachronic relation with antecedents. As it were it means multi-dimensional relationship each other. By the way, as actual entity is fundamental element in the universe and it applies to a group, society for nexus of actual entities is also a actual entity. When this nexus has a social order, it has ‘defining characteristic’. And then the togetherness manifest by having it. Defining characteristic that components hold in common is formed by the relation with actual entities each other. This process of society endures, develops the nexus. This social ordered society contrasts with characteristic ordered society and then seriality forms by genetic relatedness of components. The characteristic ordered society is has a higher position and a lower position. Before as quantum mechanical thing is geometrical society, electronic society after as empirical world; a stone, a wood, a human etc.. is structured society. To conclude, all social types have commonly aims of self-preservation, endure by the togetherness and seriality. At the same time, it necessarily have elements of social disorder, social chaos. Namely these elements become occasion in which to start the new historical change, adventure.
