초록

주의력결핍 과잉행동장애(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD)는 주의산만, 과잉행동, 충동성을 주 증상으로 하는 소아 청소년기에 가장 흔한 정신과적 장애 중의 하나이며, 성공적으로 치료를 할 수 있다는 점에서 무척 중요한 장애이다. ADHD는 아동과 청소년기의 정상 발달을 방해하고 모든 연령에서 많은 기능의 장애를 초래하기 때문에 치료가 되지 않은 경우에는 사회적으로 많은 비용을 유발시킨다. ADHD를 정확하게 평가하는 것은 진단뿐 아니라 치료에 매우 중요하며, 평가를 할 때는 생물학적, 심리적, 사회적인 요소의 상호작용을 다차원적으로 평가하여야 한다. 치료 시에는 환자의 증상, 현재의 기능과 가정 환경 등의 여러 요소들을 고려하여 포괄적인 치료 계획을 세운 후에 장기적이고 포괄적이며 아동의 성장에 따라서 변화하는 요구에 유연하게 대처해야 한다. 치료 방법은 크게 두 가지로 약물치료와 행동치료이다. 일차진료를 담당하는 가정의에 있어서 ADHD에 대한 관심은 대단히 중요하며, 가정의의 관심의 증가는 향후 ADHD에 관한 정확한 진단 및 ADHD 아동에 대한 적절한 시기의 치료 기회 부여 및 이에 따른 사회적 비용 절감 효과를 가져올 수 있기 때문이다. 따라서 가정의들은 산만하고 활동적인 아이들을 대할 경우 ADHD에 관한 고려가 반드시 필요하다.
