기술 유토피아론으로서의 제4차 산업혁명론의 가능성

본 논문은 최근 한국사회에서 큰 화두가 되고 있는 ‘제4차 산업혁명’에 관한 것으로, 이 현상이 일각의 주장과 같이 정보 기반 첨단기술의 발전이 추동한 새로운 사회로의 진입, 즉 이전 사회와의 단절인지, 혹은 연속인지 알아보고자 했다. 또 이를 기술 유토피아 담론으로 보고, 관련 논의로서 ‘완전 자동화된 호화판 공산주의’론과 ‘협력적 공유사회’론을 중심으로 해석했다. 기술 유토피아론은 일종의 거시적인 혁신사회론적 관점이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 기술 유토피아론을 통해 제4차 산업혁명론 궤적의 올바른 방향에 대해 검토할 수 있었다. 유토피아를 구성하는 핵심적 특징은 첫째, 물질적 결핍으로부터의 해방과, 둘째, 조화롭게 살아가는 이상적 공동체의 형성이다. 이는 이론적 뿌리인 마르크스 사후에 엮은 『정치경제학 비판 요강』에서 잘 드러나며, 이후 탈희소성, 탈노동 사회로의 진입을 꿈꾸게 만들었다. 논문은 기술혁신이 노동과 인간, 사회를 어떻게 변화시킬 것인가에 대한 거시적인 구상을 리프킨의 ‘한계비용 제로 사회’론으로 살펴보며, 협력적 공유사회 구성이 기술혁신을 통한 수혜를 확대하고 피해를 최소화하는 길임을 밝혔다.
Abstract
This paper aims to scrutinize the concept of ‘the Fourth Industrial Revolution’, which has become a big issue in Korean society in recent years. The term has a ‘distinctive social progress through the advancement of information based technology’ connotation. Thus the question is that whether this phenomenon is continuous or not, from the past. This can be interpreted as a techno-Utopian discourse, which is related to the theory of ‘Fully Automated Luxury Communism’ and ‘Cooperative sharing society’. Techno-Utopianism is a kind of macroscopic innovation sociological perspective. Therefore, it was possible to examine the right direction of the fourth industrial revolution theory through it. The key features of utopia are: first, liberation from material deprivation; and second, formation of an ideal community in harmony. Utopia is consist of the belief that the elimination of economic scarcity will lead to the elimination of every major social evil. This is evident in the "Grundrisse der Kritik der Politischen Ökonomie", which is a theoretical root of Marx's postmortem, and has led to dreaming of entering into a post-scarcity and post-labour society. The paper examines the macro-vision of how technological innovation will change labor, people, and society as Rifkin's "marginal cost zero society" theory.
