Abstract

It's to be need to examine the various criterions of philosophical analysis on sacrifice and scapegoat. First, the sacrifice is related to the purpose participating in the sacred. The reason to perform the sacrifice is divided into the existential cause, the religious cause, and moral cause. Second, It's related to the process consisting in a series of activities to make offerings sacred, and the kinds, function, and transformation of the scapegoat. Third, it's related to the result to be saved or cured us by sacrifice. There are so many phenomenons of sacrifice that make consider the fundamental reflection on it's essence and the development of ethical thinking by philosophical critics. Greek philosophy has been to be criticized to animal sacrifice or scapegoat. It's unjust to forgive our guilt by animal sacrifice without metanoia(conversion) or transformation of the soul. If a bad man would commit to sin but would be forgiven, nobody would be wanted to live a good life or a just life. But Gods are good, and don't receive bad men's offerings. Man always takes care of self, and have to practice arete. If we would be a good man, Gods would be received our offerings. Greek philosophers have presented a clue of ethical thinking through critical reflection on the fundamental purpose and method of the sacrifice.
