히스테리 증상의 원인으로서 가족관계에 관한 연구 -프로이드의 도라 사례를 중심으로-

프로이드는 히스테리를 유아기 혹은 어린 시절에 경험한 성적 사건으로 인해 발생되는 일종의 질병으로 간주했다. 그러나 일련의 페미니스트들은 히스테리를 사회규범에 대한 일종의 반항, 따라서 최초의 여권 운동의 일종으로 간주했다. 다른 한편으로 신경생리학적 입장을 지지하는 사람들은 히스테리를 뇌의 활동 혹은 유전자의 문제로 확정하려고 시도했다. 그러나 필자는 히스테리의 원인을 오직 신경생리학적 차원으로 환원하는 생물학적 접근도 반대하며, 이를 사회적 규범에 저항하는 일종의 여권운동으로 환원하는 페미니스트적 접근도 반대한다. 뿐만 아니라, 필자는 유아기의 성적 경험에 근거한 무의식적 저항으로 설명하는 프로이드의 정신분석적 접근법에 대해서도 반대한다. 물론 이러한 세 가지 차원들 모두 히스테리의 부분적 원인으로 작용하는 것은 분명할 것이다. 그러나 필자는 히스테리 증상의 결정적 원인은 가족관계라는 것을 논증하고자 한다. 이를 위해 필자는 잭슨의 ‘가족 항상성’(family homeostasis) 개념과 볼라스의 이론을 이용할 것이다. 단적으로 히스테리는 동일시와 대인관계 커뮤니케이션 과정에서 발생하는 것으로 가족 간의 일반적인 의사소통의 양식이라는 것을 논증하고자 한다.
Abstract
Freud regarded hysteria as a kind of illness which arose as a result of the sexual affairs experienced in infancy or in early childhood. But a group of feminists regarded Dora's hysteria as a form of revolt against social norms, and consequently as part of the first women's rights movement. On the other hand, supporters of the neurophysiological position tried to set hysteria in concrete as brain activity or as a matter of gene. However, the writers of this article object to not just the biological approach which reduces the cause of hysteria to a neurophysiological level but also the feministic approach which reduces it to part of women's rights movement. Also, the writers of this article make an objection to the psychoanalytic approach which regards it as an unconscious revolt based on the sexual experience from early childhood. Of course, all these three levels will surely work as a partial cause. But We will try to argue that the crucial cause of hysteria is in the family relations. we will employ Jackson's concept of 'family homeostasis' and the theory of Bollas to explain it. Frankly speaking, We try to argue that hysteria arises from a process of identification and interpersonal communication and is a mode of common communication among the family members.
