니체는 『비극의 탄생』(1872)에서 디오니소스적인 것을 삶을 긍정하는 비극을 제시했다. 니체의 모든 저서에서 등장하고 있는 디오니소스 또는 디오니소스적인 것은 니체 철학의 핵심으로 자리 매김한다. 야스퍼스(Karl Jaspers, 1883-1969)에 의하면, 니체의 ‘디오니소스’나 ‘디오니소스적’이라는 용어를 일관된 의미로 파악하기는 매우 어렵지만, 니체는 디오니소스적인 것에 자신의 철학하는 것 전체를 총괄하였다고 말한다. 니체는 그리스문화에서 비극 해석의 특징들을 가장 집약적으로 보여주는 결정적인 두 요소가 바로 아폴론적인 것과 디오니소스적인 대립 쌍이라 파악한다. 그래서 니체의 그리스 문화의 비극 해석은 이 두 메타포에 대한 검토를 필요로 한다. 이러한 니체의 아폴론적인 것과 디오니소스적인 메타포는 다양한 관점에서 살펴볼 수 있다. 따라서 니체의 그리스 비극은 그의 『비극의 탄생』에서 크게 세 가지로 나누어 인문정신의 흔적을 살펴볼 수 있다. 첫째는 그리스 비극론이다. 그가 예술의 모범으로서 제시한 아폴론적인 것과 디오니소스적인 것의 융합의 결실인 그리스 비극에 관한 것이다. 둘째는 음악 예술론이다. 이는 니체가 강조하는 그리스 음악정신으로부터 비극이 탄생한다는 것이다. 셋째, 비극의 몰락에 대한 예측이다. 니체는 소크라테스의 낙관적 이론주의의 비판을 통해 비극의 몰락을 예측한다. 이 글에서 필자는 그리스 시대를 한정하여 니체가 보았던 그리스 3대 비극작가를 중심으로 그들의 인문정신을 살펴보고자 한다.
Abstract
Nietzsche presented a tragedy that affirmed the life of Dionysus in 『the Birth of Tragedy』(1872). Dionysus or Dionysische, which appeared in all the writing of Nietzsche, became the core of Nietzsche's philosophy. According to Karl Jaspers (1883-1969), Nietzsche's term, Dionysus or Dionysische, is very difficult to understand in a consistent sense but, Nietzsche says that he puts all his philosophy in Dionysische. Nietzsche understands that the two intensive elements showing the trait of tragedy interpretation in Greek culture are the pairs of Apollonische and Dionysische's antagonism. Thus, Nietzsche's interpretation of the tragedy of Greek culture requires the review of the two metaphors. Apollonische and Dionysische of Nietzsche can be understood as various perspectives. Thus, Nietzsche's Greek tragedy can trace the vestige of human spirit in three classified categories in 『the Birth of Tragedy』. The first is Greek tragedy. It is about Greek tragedy, the result of convergence of Apollonische and Dionysische that was suggested as an example of art. The second is Musical Art theory. This is about that the tragedy is created at Greek musical spirit that Nietzsche emphasizes. The third is prediction of the fall of tragedy. Nietzsche predicts the fall of tragedy through criticizing of Socrates' optimistic theoretical attention. This paper attempts to examine the human spirit that Nietzsche understood by focusing on the great three Greek tragic writers and limiting the Greek era.
