근대 일본의 국민도덕론의 체계와 대외인식- 이노우에 데쓰지로의 유학 3부작과 국민 도덕 개론을 중심으로

근대 일본의 국민 도덕은 국가의 근본주의인 국체, 천양무궁의 신칙, 대대로 신민이천황에게 충과 효를 다하여 왔다는 교육칙어의 문언 등 세 가지를 핵심 요소로 하여, 일본의 역사 및 사상계에 영향을 준 주요 사상들을 그 핵심 요소에 부합하도록 국가주의적 해석 및 변용을 거쳐, 근대 일본의 국가주의자들이 고안한 것이다. 특히 이노우에 데쓰지로는 신도, 무사도, 가족 제도, 유교 등 일본의 국민 도덕을 이루는 주요 사상들을 국민도덕론의 관점에서 해석하며, 국민도덕론의 체계를 구축하였다. 대외적 관점에서 이노우에는 국가나 민족의 흥망은 그들이 갖고 있는 국민 도덕의 우열에 의해 결정된다고 주장한다. 강한 국가를 조직하여 열국과의 경쟁에서 우세를 점하고 있는 민족은 우수한 국민 도덕을 갖고 있는 것이며, 국가를 잃고 흩어진 민족은 결함이 있는 국민 도덕을 갖고 있다는 것이다. 국민도덕론에서 근대 국가주의자들이 변용한 여러 사상들에 대한 설명은 사실과 허구와 국가주의적 해석을 뒤섞어 놓은 것으로, 왜곡된 부분이 적지 않다. 앞으로 이와관련하여서는 더 심도 있는 비판적 검증이 이루어져야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Modern Japanese nationalist Tetsujiro Inoue devised the national morality of modern Japan with three key elements: the fundamental character of the Japanese empire, the national prophecy on the prosperity of the royal family, and the morality of loyalty and filial piety to the emperor of The Imperial Rescript on Education. In his philosophy of national morality, ideas such as Shinto, Musado, Confucianism, and family systems were accepted into the national morality through nationalistic interpretation and transformation to fit the three key elements. In regards to the international community, Inoue argues that the rise and fall of the state and the people is determined by the superiority and inferiority of the national morality of each people. Inoue's explanation of the various concepts which constitute the national morality is a mixture of facts, falsity and nationalistic interpretations, and it contains many distorted explanations. In this regard, more in-depth critical verification of these concepts should be made in the future.
