초록

In Chinese literature, it was only in the Song dynasty that it became possible to materialize how the writer’s world view was built and changed through travel. However, most research of the Song Dynasty travel literature in the academic world of Korea and China is mostly focused on the works of Fan Chengda and Lu You, the outstanding literati of the Southern Song, and so, other works are not receiving proper lighting. Therefore, this study, focusing on Lou Yue’s Beixingrilu, which has not yet been studied in various ways, attempts to infer how the worldview of the Southern Song literati was being formed. Unfamiliar and fresh experiences that occur during the course of travel change the existing notions that have long been taken for granted, and give us a broader and more multifaceted view of the world. However, the act of travel does not necessarily bring only the expansion of the world view. We sometimes taboo the unfamiliar appearance and way of life of others, and at the same time, by giving legitimacy and rationality to the way of life that constitutes oneself, rather, we experience that their existing values are fixed or even reduced. Let’s see how Lou Yue, a Han Chinese nobleman and man of the literati of the Southern Song draw boundaries between himself and others and build his own worldview in the long journey to reach the land of the perfect other through the lands of the homeland ruled by aliens beyond the borders of the safe parental arms.
